Richard K. Hammer, MD Promoted to Interim CEO of SE Healthcare Quality Consulting

CHARLESTON, SC, May 22, 2017 – The Board of Directors of SE Healthcare Quality Consulting (SE) is pleased to announce the promotion of Richard K. Hammer, MD to Interim CEO effective immediately. Dr. Hammer, a board certified physician with over 20 years of experience in the business of medicine and business development, takes on this new role at an important time as SE passes significant development and business thresholds. Dr. Hammer will preside over all marketing and business development activities for SE, including the enhancement of the Physician Empowerment Suite©, a scientifically-based tool that reduces and mitigates risk and liability while improving the economics of physician offices and hospitals. He most recently served as Executive Vice-President of the Partners in Safety Program for SE.

“Dr. Hammer has a deep understanding of the business of healthcare delivery and reimbursement. He understands and has extensive sales experience at an executive level. Most importantly, he’s passionate about our products. The Board believes he’ll take our company to the next level,” said Philip R. Schauer, MD, President of SE Healthcare Quality Consulting and Director of the Cleveland Clinic Bariatric and Metabolic Institute.

Prior to joining SE, Dr. Hammer served as Vice President of Clinical Market Development for Capital BlueCross where he developed and led a market facing team of physician medical directors focused on accountable care, physician engagement, health plan customers and broker/consultant relations. He has experience creating and implementing practical solutions for health plans, employers groups, integrated medical systems, private physician groups and insurers. Dr. Hammer headed a consulting firm that focused on helping clients build, implement and manage programs to maximize the relationships between providers, payers and purchasers. He continues to work with the litigators at Saxton & Stump, SE’s strategic partner, on understanding and using new defenses stemming from the Affordable Care Act.
