James W. Saxton Presents at GI Conference
CHARLESTON, SC, October 2, 2015 – James W. Saxton, Board Member, SE Healthcare Quality Consulting and CEO and Co-Founder of Saxton & Stump, LLC, presented “Reducing Medico-Legal Risk in Gastroenterology: Why Patients Sue & Implementing Steps to Avoid Lawsuits” at the 2nd Annual Update in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Mr. Saxton discussed the main causes of medico-legal suits in gastroenterology and how physicians can implement steps to minimize them by incorporating a five-star service culture in their practice, documenting patient engagement and communicating effectively when an adverse event occurs. The Update in Gastroenterology and Hepatology was held on September 26, 2015 on the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Campus and was chaired by Peter Cotton, M.D., Founder and Former Director of the Digestive Disease Center at MUSC. The program provided practicing physicians with updates on the investigation and management of a broad spectrum of digestive and liver diseases.
Mr. Saxton has sustained an active litigation practice for more than 30 years, representing doctors, hospitals and other health care professionals in state and federal court and administrative proceedings. He lectures frequently and is an invited speaker across the country on health care issues, including liability reduction and risk management. He presents to nationally prominent health care organizations such as the American College of Surgeons, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American Society for Health Care Risk Management and the Physician Insurers Association of America.
