Our latest YouTube series involves interviews with healthcare professionals who have witnessed the rise of physician burnout over the last few decades. In the interviews, we ask each of them about the impact of burnout and for one piece of advice they would offer to leadership teams.
In this video, Richard Waldman, MD talks candidly about the tragic impact burnout had on one of his former colleagues and why it went unnoticed.
Physician burnout is the biggest issue in healthcare because it is a major contributor to the highest rate of suicide among all professions. It impacts physicians personally and professionally, and can lead to detrimental effects that can change people's lives for the worse. Not to mention, it negatively impacts care quality, turnover and many other parts of a healthcare organization.
