CHARLESTON, SC, February 11, 2016 – SE Healthcare Quality Consulting Executive VP, Partners in Safety Program, Richard K. Hammer and Attorney Darlene K. King presented Outcome Measures: Impact on Healthcare Professionals and Liability during a webinar on February 10, 2016 hosted by the Physician Insurers Association of America (PIAA).
During the presentation, Dr. Hammer discussed how the healthcare environment’s shift from volume to value-based physician reimbursement will require physicians to focus on strengthening the patient experience and patient engagement. Attorney King discussed the legal perspective of outcome measures and how physicians can lessen their risk of medical professional liability claims.
The PIAA is the national insurance trade association representing medical professional liability insurance companies, risk retention groups, captives, trusts and other entities. The webinar was presented to PIAA member company Board members and professionals of the PIAA Fellows Program.
Dr. Hammer is a board certified physician with more than 20 years of experience in health care delivery and the business of medicine. He has experience creating and implementing practical solutions for health plans, employers groups, integrated medical systems, private physician groups and insurers. He served as Vice President of Clinical Market Development for BlueCross where he developed and led a market facing team of physician medical directors focused on accountable care, physician engagement, health plan customers and broker/consultant relations.
Ms. King concentrates her practice in the representation of hospitals, doctors and health care professionals in health care litigation. She guides health care clients with issues involving risk management, crisis management, patient care and liability exposure. Ms. King has many years of comprehensive health care litigation experience encompassing all aspects of professional negligence litigation from inception to trial.
