LANCASTER, PA, May 12, 2015 – James W. Saxton, a member of the SE Healthcare Quality Consulting Board of Directors, was a presenter at the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) Annual Meeting held on April 15-18, 2015 in Nashville, TN.
During his presentation, “Avoiding Medical Legal Unpleasantness: How to Med/Mal-Proof Your Practice,” Mr. Saxton discussed how properly managing events and preventing claims can reduce liability risk for surgeons and the importance of developing strong relationships with patients by creating a five-star service culture in practices and incorporating specialty-specific patient experience tools which could improve quality, safety and outcomes. The SAGES meeting was attended by more than 2,200 people including world-renowned experts in GI and minimally invasive surgery. The program focused on clinical problems that surgeons encounter every day in their respective practices, including management of complications, approaches for reoperative surgery, and laparoscopy in the acute care setting.
